Self Defence Simplified! With the number of cases of sexual harassment reported in the city. More and more women enter the workforce, sexual harassment has seen a rise in workplaces and issues of safety confront women every time they step out of their homes. Violence against women is partly a result of gender relations that assumes men to be superior to women. Given the subordinate status of women, much of gender violence include physical aggression, such as blows of varying intensity, burns, attempted hanging, sexual abuse, and rape, psychological violence through insults, humiliation, coercion, blackmail, economic or emotional threats, and control over speech and actions. In extreme, but not unknown cases, death is the result. Though women seem to be on level par with men in all walks of life, when it comes to self defense, most of them are helpless and lack of confidence. Keeping all this in mind the St. Mira’s college for girls has taken steps to began the Self defense training program for women and organized an International workshop for their college students tomorrow.
